After the Saturday race debacle and announcement of the feature races as being planned into Greyville's Poly meeting on Wednesday, punters will be relieved to see some top class racing continue.
The abandonment of the meeting post the blocking of the parade ring by protestor who disagreed with the scratching of Main Defender from the Drill Hall Stakes. That horse card scratched from the Drill Hall now which leaves Double Grand Slam and Sandringham Summit as the two headline horses of the meeting.
Double Grand Slam takes her place in the Kzn Fillies Guineas whilst Sandringham Summit takes his place in the colts version.
It was an issue with the traveling Nieuwenhuizen horse as to whether to travel back to Joburg and back in three days or stay in Durban with the star horse. He opted for a stable at Summerveld and will aim for the Guineas having been in Durban for what will be almost a week from his arrival last Thursday.
The stout looking almost black champion has the look of eagles and runs like it too. He is a generous 11/10 with the bookmakers for the Guineas.
In what looks a good pipe opener for the colt, his biggest opposition comes in the form of Green With Envy. But there are others to consider too.
Double Grand Slam is a penulty kick in the Fillies race and should go onto bigger things at Gr1 level later this season over the same distance.
